Setting Sail on Greg’s Birthday
March 29th 2025
Happy Birthday Greg!! What a birthday gift. You have worked so hard at getting this all together.
We push off the dock where we bought the boat, with Steve there to help us with untying the lines and releasing us into the seas. Thank you, Steve for all of your help with this journey.
Away we go!! Captain Greg at the helm takes the crew, Brandy, Evie, and Katniss down the Intra-Coastal looking for a place to call home. Fingers crossed we score a mooring ball.
We cruise into Idlewyld Park area right next the Las Olas Blvd Bridge where the mooring balls are. We see two empty mooring balls. When we approach each one, we can see there are no pennant lines. Brandy fishes around each ball with the boat hook. Nothing. So, we head to Lake Silvia to hopefully anchor there for the night. So, it’s time to test this ole girl out and play with her instruments. Low depth radar alarms us, but let’s see how accurate it is. Whoopsie, we hit bottom, twice, not a big deal, it was soft. HA HA!! We guess that radar is correct. Captain Guster is always amazing under pressure.
We finally anchor at Lake Silvia. We all relax, and we have a toast to Greg’s birthday and to our first day on The Chasing Destiny. We hoist Evie’s flag that she had when she sailed the world on The Hakuna Matata (we would love to see if this vessel is still sailing). Such an amazing and emotional moment.
It’s time to celebrate Greg’s birthday. We take the dinghy named Katniss over to Seabreeze Blvd, we have been there before by car, so this time we are feeling pretty cool cruising up on the water side. We decide to grab some grub at Burgers and Shakes.
