First Night Alone

April 9th 2025

Greg leaves for work today for three nights and four days. This will be the first time the greenhorns (Brandy & Katniss) are left in charge of the boat. Katniss decided she will be acting captain. Brandy, thinking this is not fair said we should play rock, paper, scissors. We play and guess who is acting captain, Katniss is now acting captain, and I’ll tell you what, she is a bossy little shit.

Katniss takes us to the dinghy dock and drop Greg off for work. I could see the look on Captain Katniss’s (we will call her CK for now) face that this was going to be a long four days.

Brandy takes charge of the dinghy (Katniss is a horrible driver) and takes us back to the boat. We struggle with the headwinds and the massive current on our way back. We try to attach to the vessel, but the winds are fighting us (Jk, Brandy is still learning how to drive the dinghy) so we go around and try again. Coming back in Brandy reaches for the davit, but it is just out of reach, when out of the blue the wind changes directions and smoothly pushes the dinghy right next to davit. We attach.

Brandy and CK board the boat soaked with sweat, when Greg calls and tells her, you need to head to the UPS store, we have a perishable package waiting for us. UGH!!

Here we go again Katniss. They lower the dinghy, head to shore, wait for a circuit ride with Alexis. They grab the package, grab a slice of pizza, and wait for the circuit ride with Phil, he likes to talk for sure. Phil informs us that he needs to pick up another passenger. It seems like we are riding around everywhere. He tells us this is what they call the nickel tour. Whatever that means (I will look this up later). I just found out it’s basically a quick shitty tour.

We are finally home on the boat and we can now relax.

Later that evening, I notice a new boat moored next to us. I will investigate this in the morning.

First night on the boat alone. The two women crew were a little nervous, however to their surprise they settle in like they have been doing this their entire life.
