4 More Carts & 4 more Dinghy Trips
May 17th 2025
Another glorious morning dawned, but for the crew of the Chasing Destiny, it felt more like the prelude to a grocery-fueled contest. Up and at ’em, they piled into the trusty dinghy, heading for another round of provisioning. This time, they were armed with more carts and a steely determination to conquer the aisles.
The scene inside the supermarket quickly devolved into something resembling a strategic military operation. Greg navigated with the precision of a seasoned supply sergeant, while Brandy zoomed around, snatching up essentials (and a few non-essentials that looked particularly tempting). Katniss, obviously grabbed what she could.
One cart filled, then another, and another. Soon, all four were groaning under the weight of canned goods, snacks, and enough beverages to hydrate a small army. Pushing them to the register felt like an Olympic sport, each wheel protesting under the strain. Brandy eyed the ever-increasing total on the cash register screen, a queasy feeling settling in her stomach that had nothing to do with the gentle rocking of the boat. It was the dawning realization of the sheer volume of “stuff” they were accumulating.
As they navigated the crowded store, they couldn’t help but notice the curious stares of other shoppers, particularly the kids. Their eyes widened as they watched the overflowing carts go by, piled high with what must have looked like a year’s worth of treats. Brandy couldn’t help but chuckle. “We must look like Santa Claus prepping for Christmas morning,” she whispered to Greg, who was currently wrestling a rogue jug of sparkling water.
The journey back to the boat was another epic saga of carefully balanced bags and strategic weight distribution in the dinghy. But as they unloaded their haul, the feeling of accomplishment (mixed with a healthy dose of sticker shock) was undeniable. The Chasing Destiny was slowly but surely transforming into a well-stocked vessel, ready for whatever adventures the Bahamas might throw their way. Now, if only they could figure out where to put that giant inflatable turtle.
