Chores with a Side of Fun

Another work week dawned, pulling Captain Greg back to the grind, but not before the cherished morning ritual. Early risers all, Greg and Katniss piled into the dinghy for their customary cruise. It was Katniss’s absolute favorite part of the day: zipping around the harbor, saying “good morning” (or perhaps “woof-woof, respect my tiny dinghy!”) to all the impressive yachts and the stoic local fishermen. Katniss, perched proudly at the bow, would survey her watery domain. Brandy and Katniss gave Greg a warm send-off with hugs and kisses. Then, with a final wave, she and Katniss were back in the dinghy themselves. But this wasn’t a leisurely cruise. Oh no. With the upcoming Bahamas Regatta in mind, they transformed the dinghy into a miniature racing machine, zipping around mooring balls with surprising speed and precision. Brandy would lean into the turns, Katniss’s ears flapping wildly, both of them grinning.

“I’m pretty sure they would win the whole Regatta if everyone was racing in a dinghy!” Brandy yelled over the hum of the engine, laughing as they cut a sharp turn around a particularly bewildered pelican. The Chasing Destiny’s crew might be a little unconventional, but their dinghy skills were undeniably top-tier, ready to take on anything… as long as it was under fifteen feet and had an outboard motor. Now back to the chores on the boat. 😬
