Blinded by Water

The day on the Chasing Destiny began with a bittersweet farewell. They’d finally **sold the old dinghy**, a trusty but tired vessel. Poor **Greg fought tooth and nail to get the motor off**, wrestling with stubborn bolts and grunting with effort until, finally, he conquered it. With that massive task behind them, their attention turned to the catamaran. It was time for its official Chasing Destiny naming, a process that involved carefully applying fresh decals – a task that proved surprisingly tough. “What a task,” Greg muttered, peeling a crooked letter and starting over.
Just as they finished, the sky began to darken ominously. Naturally, this was the moment Greg left for work, leaving Brandy to face the brewing storm alone. She had just learned that a tornado had touched down in this very spot not long ago, a fact Greg’s friend had enthusiastically shared, with Greg later insisting that she watch the unsettling video. This knowledge now gnawed as she watched the black, heavy looking low clouds closed in around her.
The rain quickly intensified, turning into a torrential downpour, so heavy it felt like the sky itself was emptying. The wind, not to be outdone, picked up with terrifying speed. Brandy, starting to get a little concerned, looked around frantically. Things that were usually secure, like a heavy cooler and an outside mattress they lounged on (a genuinely heavy, tied-down item), began to lift up and bounce around like toys. The Chasing Destiny herself started spinning wildly, by the furious gusts. All Brandy could see was the bow of the boat, as the relentless wind began to pull water out of the ocean and just cover the windows, blinding them from the chaotic maelstrom raging around them. It was a terrifying, disorienting blur of wind, rain, and churning sea.
